Gandhinagar: In a significant push toward next-generation industrial growth, Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai has an allocation of ₹610 crore for trunk infrastructure development at the Dholera Special Investment Region (Dholera SIR) in the Gujarat Budget 2026–27.
The move reinforces the state’s commitment to accelerating the Dholera Smart City project and strengthening Gujarat’s position among leading smart city projects in India.
Dholera Strengthening Gujarat’s Semiconductor Vision
The budget highlighted the rapidly emerging semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in Dholera Gujarat and Sanand. With the Tata Semiconductor Fab, the state government aims to position Gujarat prominently in global chip manufacturing while supporting India’s semiconductor self-reliance mission.
Authorities expect the ecosystem to attract high-technology industries, expand industries in Dholera, and create skilled employment in electronics manufacturing and advanced engineering sectors.
Importantly, the ₹610 crore allocation is part of a broader semiconductor push, which also includes:
- ₹1,100 crore support under the Gujarat Semiconductor Policy
- ₹150 crore provision under the Gujarat Electronics Policy
- Additional infrastructure and utility investments to support chip manufacturing
Together, these measures indicate a coordinated strategy to build a full semiconductor value chain in the state.
Phase-1 Infrastructure Push at Dholera SIR
Under Phase-1 of the Logistics and Trunk Infrastructure Project at Dholera SIR, the government will invest ₹610 crore, partly supported by the Developed Gujarat Fund.
The planned smart city infrastructure includes:
- Development support for Dholera International Airport infrastructure
- Modern internal road networks and connectivity
- Smart city water management through water supply and wastewater treatment systems
- Underground power distribution systems
- Advanced smart ICT and digital facilities
This plug-and-play infrastructure is designed to accelerate industrial readiness across the Dholera industrial area and support multiple upcoming projects in Dholera.
Parallel Budget Support for Utilities and Water Network
Beyond the core ₹610 crore trunk allocation, the state budget also outlined complementary infrastructure spending critical for dholera sir development, including:
- ₹300 crore for water pipeline supply systems
- ₹650 crore for bulk water pipeline network
- ₹50 crore for additional infrastructure support
These supporting investments are essential for sustaining large-scale manufacturing and urban expansion within smart city Dholera.
Boost to Connectivity and Regional Growth
The infrastructure push complements major connectivity projects such as the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, which is expected to significantly reduce the Dholera to Ahmedabad distance and improve logistics efficiency.
Alongside the expressway, future plans like the Dholera railway station and airport-led development are strengthening multimodal access. These initiatives align with the broader Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) framework, under which dholera smart city is being developed as India’s first greenfield industrial smart city.
Expanding Industrial and Investment Potential
With integrated infrastructure taking shape, the government expects Dholera Smart City Progress to accelerate across industrial, residential, and commercial segments. Strategic assets such as the ABCD Building, the Dholera Solar Park, and semiconductor initiatives are already signaling on-ground momentum in Dholera Gujarat.
As trunk infrastructure improves, demand for dholera sir plots is likely to remain active. Market observers note that Dholera plot price movement and interest in Plots in Dholera Smart City typically correlate with visible infrastructure execution and policy support.
Positioning Dholera as a Global Industrial Hub
The Gujarat government has reiterated its long-term vision of transforming Dholera into a global industrial and employment hub. With strong policy backing, expanding connectivity, and next-generation utilities, smart city Dholera is being positioned to attract innovation-driven enterprises across semiconductors, electronics, renewable energy, data centers, and advanced manufacturing.
As upcoming projects in Dholera progress, the ₹610 crore allocation supported by parallel policy and infrastructure funding is expected to play a catalytic role in building resilient smart city infrastructure and enabling sustained industrial growth.
